New technique for repair work using experts from another location

Computer scientists have now developed a platform to enable communication between specialists and the company. Thus, the experts can instruct the staff in what has caused the problem and how it can be fixed. At the same time, specialists can supervise the repair work and are able to intervene in case of emergency via live broadcasting.

Whole genome analysis speeds up: 240 full genomes in 50 hours

Although the time and cost of sequencing the human genome has plummeted, analyzing the 3 billion base pairs of genetic information can take months. Researchers working with Beagle -- one of the world's fastest supercomputers devoted to life sciences -- report they can analyze 240 full genomes in 50 hours.
