Mayor Earl Bullard of Latta, S.C. has been under fire the past few days after getting rid of the town's lesbian police chief, Crystal Moore. Many have contended that Moore was canned for her sexuality, especially after one council member produced an audio recording of the mayor at a special city council meeting addressing the firing. "I would much rather have… and I will say this to anybody's face… somebody who drank and drank too much taking care of my child than I had somebody whose lifestyle is questionable around children," he is heard saying. "I'm not going to let two women stand up there and hold hands and let my child be aware of it. And I'm not going to see them do it with two men neither," he continues. Before her firing, Moore had not received a single reprimand in 20 years on the job.
