Three Years to Destroy ISIS, U.S. Estimates The U.S. is planning a campaign against ISIS that may take as many as three years of sustained effort to complete, including attacking the self-proclaimed Islamic State's redoubt in Syria, according to senior officials in the Obama administration. The first phase, which is focused on airstrikes, is already underway. The second phase, which won't begin until Iraq forms a more inclusive government, will involve intensive training and equipment outfitting of Kurdish fighters, Iraqi military, and possibly Sunni tribes. The third phase will be destroying ISIS sanctuary in Syria. On Sunday, President Obama told Meet the Press that his plan for ISIS is "not the equivalent of the Iraq War" in which 100,000 troops would be deployed. The New York Times IT GETS BETTER 4. Iowa Women Wed After 72 Years Together It's never too late to begin a new chapter in life, say two women who have gotten married in their nineties. Vivian Boyack, 91, and Alice "Nonie" Dubes, 90, wed each other over the weekend after 72 years as a couple. The women sat next to each other during a ceremony in Davenport, Iowa, attended by a small group of family and close friends. The pair met growing up in their hometown of Yale, Iowa, before moving to Davenport, where Boyack taught school and Dubes did payroll work. Over the years they traveled to all 50 U.S. states and all of Canada's provinces, as well as making two trips to England. "We've had a good time," Dubes said.
