Man Confesses to Killing 7 Women in Indiana, Cops Say Darren Deon Vann has been identified as the suspected killer of at least seven women found dead in northwest Indiana this weekend. Vann, 43, will be charged with murder by strangulation of 19-year-old Afrika Hardy at a Motel 6 in Hammond, Indiana. Vann is a convicted sex offender who moved from Austin, Texas to Gary, Indiana. Hammond Chief of Police John Doughty said Vann arranged to meet a prostitute at the Motel 6 on Friday. When the madam tried and failed to reach Hardy at the hotel, she called police. At the hotel, cops discovered Hardy's body and then executed a warrant on a home thanks to the phone number provided to the madam. Police said Vann immediately confessed to killing Hardy and then gave the locations of six homicide victims in Gary. Read it at Chicago Tribune RIDICULOUS 3. School Bans Kids From Ebola-Free Rwanda An elementary school in New Jersey forced transfer students from Rwanda not to attend classes over Ebola fears. Rwanda hasn't had one case of Ebola and it is 2,600 miles from the closest afflicted country in West Africa. No matter: Two students were supposed to start Monday at Howard Yocum Elementary School in Maple Shade, New Jersey, but will not be allowed to matriculate until Oct. 20. The students must complete a 21-day waiting period—the incubation period for Ebola—before they can enter the school. The school was also planning to take the students' temperatures three times a day. "I think for another couple weeks. I don't think it would hurt, I mean you have a lot of children that are involved, so I don't think it would hurt," said local parent Billy Dennison.
