The Sunday kidnapping of Carlesha Freeland-Gaither, 22, was caught on a surveillance video that shocked the nation. Freeland-Gaither was rescued from her alleged abductor, 37-year-old Delven Barnes, on the side of the road in Jessup, Maryland. She was hospitalized for injuries sustained during the abduction. Big Oil Moves to Halt TX Fracking Ban The Texas Oil & Gas Association, the state's energy lobby, has filed for an injunction on a ban on fracking that voters in the North Texas city of Denton approved Tuesday. "A ban on hydraulic fracturing is inconsistent with state law," said Thomas Phillips, a former head of the state supreme court who now represents the trade group. The state's top energy regulator also said the prohibition should be tossed out, because it is based on "misinformation." Denton became the first Texas city to outlaw the oil and gas extraction technique behind the U.S. energy boom. The vote in the city of 123,000 was highly symbolic, because fracking is widely used in Texas, the country's top producer of crude—and Denton is said to be the place where the process was invented.  Read it at Reuters TAKE BACKS 5. Rose McGowan: Sorry for Anti-Gay Rant After a tirade directed at gay men while speaking about protesting the Beverly Hills Hotel, actress Rose McGowan has apologized for comments directed at gay men. "I made a dumb generalization, and for that I apologize. For everything else I said, no, I will not," she wrote. During a podcast about the boycott of the hotel owned by the Sultan of Brunei, McGowan declared the protest was a "form of narcissistic, self-victimization, gay insanity." She then continued, complaining that, "You wanna talk about the fact that I have heard nobody in the gay community, no gay males, standing up for women on any level? I think it's what happens to you as a group when you are starting to get most of what you fought for. What do you do now? What I would hope they would do is extend a hand to women. Women, by and large, have very much helped the gay community get to where they are today." McGowan then claimed that, "Gay men are as misogynistic as straight men, if not more so."
