COWARDLY

When Regal Entertainment Group dropped The Interview from its theaters, the fate of the movie was sealed. Aswan Suebsaeng reports on how the tough-talking, hard-right billionaire Philip Anschutz, who controls the company, capitulated to Kim Jong-Un.

TYPECAST

Sony Pictures had a different villain planned for The Interview but then it approached Seth Rogen to talk him into putting Kim Jong-Un into the film, hacked emails obtained by The Daily Beast reveal. What's more, Sony executives laughed off North Korea's threats before the hacking attack.

HORROR DOWN UNDER

Authorities confirmed eight children, reportedly between the ages of 18 months and 15 years, were found stabbed to death at a home in the northern Australian city of Cairns on Friday. A 34-year-old woman, believed to be the mother of seven of the slain children, was also taken to a hospital for a chest wound and is said to be assisting police with the investigation. Police have not confirmed whether she is a suspect. The Guardian reports that the victims' 20-year-old brother was the first to discover the grisly scene.

TREAT YO'SELF

Return fraud is costing the big retailers billions of dollars each year. M.L. Nextel reports on some of the most ingenious swindles, including a printer stuffed with a piƱata and a Gameboy with a sardine can inside.

REALLY?

Two neighboring states, Nebraska and Oklahoma, have asked the Supreme Court to strike down Colorado's law legalizing marijuana. According to the two states, "the State of Colorado has created a dangerous gap in the federal drug control system. Marijuana flows from this gap into neighboring states, undermining Plaintiff States' own marijuana bans, draining their treasuries, and placing stress on their criminal justice systems." In response, the attorney general for Colorado, John Suthers, declared the lawsuit is "without merit" and that "it appears the plaintiffs' primary grievance stems from non-enforcement of federal laws regarding marijuana, as opposed to choices made by the voters of Colorado."
