Stocks are down again after a brief lift in early morning trading on better-than-expected jobs growth in July. Shares of AAPL are down about 3.5% as the rest of tech is also deep in the red. Catalysts include the next
iPhone launch this fall as well as a possible
iPad 3 ahead of the holidays; continued adoption in China and other emerging markets;
iCloud rollout and adoption; the continued evolution and next generation of
Apple TV; and new platforms such as books / publishing and social (
Ping). Shares of
Apple trade at
9.8x Enterprise Value / Trailing Twelve Months Free Cash Flow (including long-term marketable securities).
Apple Looking To Merge iOS And Mac OS X Next Year (Barron's) Apple is looking to merge its
iOS and
Mac OS X operating systems into one unified platform for applications and cloud services as soon as next year starting with the
MacBook Air, according to Peter Misek with
Jefferies & Co. Merging the iOS and Mac OS X platforms would allow users to have content be available and optimized on an even wider range of devices. Misek sees this strategy being more difficult for Apple to achieve if the company continues to keep its Mac and iOS operating systems separate.

BlackBerry owners were going to switch to an iPhone next, with only 26% sticking with RIM. By contrast, 94% of iPhone owners were going to get an Apple handset again, while 42% of
Android owners would be continuing with the OS for their next phone. Although the sample size of the study is small, the findings appear to largely represent the widespread global attitudes of smartphone owners and prospective buyers in relation to the most recent industry-wide sales and wireless subscriber data.
