Dear People:

Fall always brings a burst of new energy to me. Fall is my favorite season. Employees are back to work, so projects move forward more swiftly. My management development classes have full attendance. My thoughts turn to management development, and Human Resources development, the topics of my most recent training class. Your managers are a critical communication conduit within your organization. They have a serious and lasting impact on the attitude and morale of your other employees. As such, their constant development is a priority. Your HR staff and managers can do a lot of employee development internally and you have options for training managers and other employees externally. But, don't overlook the options that you have for on-the-job training and mentoring and coaching. Your managers must continue to develop and for every employee, continuous improvement will bring you the workforce you need in the future. Nothing is so sad as to watch an employee fail to develop the skills necessary for the next opportunity or accept the help necessary to succeed in their current job.
