Why do you hate the gays?

That’s what I want to ask every single person in the drive-thru at Chik-fil-A. In fact, I just asked this of an HR colleague of mine. Someone who is in the business of doing the right thing when it matters. Someone who should know better.

Yes, I know you are hungry.

Yes, I know it’s just a chicken sandwich.

I said those words. But I also said that it’s just too bad you hate gay people because you seem like a pretty nice guy.

He insists he doesn’t hate gay people.

He is wrong. He does.

If you liked gay people, you would be offended that Chick-Fil-A Fast donated $2MM to anti-gay groups in 2009. You would wonder why a quaint little sammich shop is in the business of fighting against marriage equality in America. And you would wonder why Chick-fil-A hates Muslims as much as they hate the gays.

I know there is injustice everywhere and you can’t fight all the battles.

How about fighting two battles with one stone? Lose your fat ass and stop being a homophobe.

It’s a new year. Time for new goals. I think it’s great that Chik-fil-A’s mission is to glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us. That’s cool. If they could be stewards of the LGBT community — who are also part of God’s community — that would go a long way in fulfilling their mission.

Don’t eat at Chick-fil-A, my friends. Think about boycotting the chain of restaurants as part of your corporate wellness program. Who among us needs another crappy chicken sandwich, anyway?
