NBA Scoring Is Way Down This Season

With the NBA shoving a shortened 66-game schedule into an even shorter four-month calendar, there were bound to be some peculiar side-effects. But maybe the biggest change to the game this season has been the drop in scoring.

With the league at the mid-point of the season, teams are averaging just 94.9 points per game, down nearly five points per game from last year (99.6). At this pace, the NBA would have its lowest scoring season since 2003-04 when teams averaged just 93.4 points per game.
