North Carolina nonsense -- Is Obama Jewish? --  Splitting the vote in Montana -- Democrat of the Year no more -- "The Lizard King" quote of the day -- Poll of the Day: Romney up in Ohio
1.) North Carolina nonsense  -- The Obama campaign is ludicrously suggesting that President Obama has a chance to win North Carolina, like he did in 2008. TheDC's Neil Munro reports:

"President Barack Obama’s aides are spinning like whirling dervishes, eager to knock down any data showing that former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is gaining ground in critical swing states. In North Carolina where the polls favor Romney and Obama has not allocated any time to headline a get-out-the-vote rally, 'we really believe that North Carolina is within our reach,' David Axelrod, Obama’s chief strategist, told reporters during a morning conference call. ... Although Republicans say they’re increasingly confident about wining North Carolina, 'I’m calling their bluff,' Jim Messina, Obama’s campaign manager, declared. 'We have an amazing ground game' there, he said."

Mr. President, TheDC Morning knows North Carolina. North Carolina is a friend of TheDC Morning's. You, Mr. President, are no North Carolina.
2.) Is Obama Jewish?  -- No. But according to a recent poll, nearly 1 in 5 Americans thinks so. TheDC's Jamie Weinstein reports:

"Eighteen percent of Americans inexplicably think that President Barack Obama is Jewish, according to a new poll. A survey commissioned by the Associated Press and conducted by GfK asked respondents to identify Obama’s religion from a list of possibilities. Thirty five percent said Obama had no religion, 28 percent correctly identified Obama as a protestant Christian, another 28 percent declined to answer, 18 percent said he was Jewish, 10 percent said he was Muslim and five percent said he was Catholic. Another two percent each said they didn’t know, or named some other religion. In 2010, when AP/GfK asked the same question, zero percent of respondents identified Obama as Jewish."

Add these 18 percent to the groups of people who ought to consider not voting. Then again, this result is so preposterous that one has to believe the poll itself is worthless.
3.) Splitting the vote in Montana -- Montana Democrats are getting behind the libertarian Senate candidate in order to draw voters away from the GOP nominee. TheDC's Alexis Levinson reports:

"A group controlled by Democrats is running ads in the Montana Senate race telling voters to vote for the Libertarian candidate, Dan Cox, in what appears to be an attempt to split the vote between him and the Republican candidate — and help propel Democratic Sen. Jon Tester to re-election. According to Open Secrets, Montana Hunters and Anglers has spent $1,089,694 this cycle attacking Republican Rep. Denny Rehberg, who is challenging incumbent Tester for his Senate seat. The latest ad attacks Rehberg and goes on to tell viewers, 'Vote Cox: the real conservative.'"
4.) Democrat of the Year no more -- Maybe she just let the fame go to her head. Annie Yu reports for TheDC:

"Jefferson County, Colo. Democrats have revoked 66-year-old Estelle Carson’s 2012 'Democrat of the Year' award, following her conviction on Thursday for stealing from a 71-year-old woman who suffers from both partial blindness and cerebral palsy. Carson was found guilty of felony identity theft and felony theft from an at-risk person for stealing checks from the woman to pay for cable, cellphone and Internet bills."

One just can not make this stuff up.
5.) "The Lizard King" quote of the day -- From "The Lizard King: The Shocking Inside Account of Obama’s True Intergalactic Ambitions By An Anonymous White House Staffer," edited and introduced by Daily Caller writers Jamie Weinstein and Will Rahn:

"'Ever listen to Garrett Mueller?' he said. 'Excuse me, Doctor Garrett Mueller. God knows what he’s a doctor in, mind you, but that’s what they call him. They replay his show every morning at six a.m. It’s on live at four p.m. And the six a.m. replay is still one of the ten most popular shows in the country. His day-old thoughts, if you can call them that, get more listeners than four of the top five progressive radio shows in the country combined.' 'Can you even name a progressive radio host?' he asked. 'I only know that fat piece of shit, what’s his name . . . Schultz. Ed Schultz. Guy’s a piece of work, I’ll fucking tell ya. I once saw him kick a dog.'"

It is unquestionably the funniest book of the year --- and your TheDC Morning facilitator isn't just saying that because he co-wrote it.BUY ... IT ... NOW.
6.) Poll of the Day: Romney up in Ohio -- Rasmussen Reports poll of likely voters in Ohio: Mitt Romney 50%, President Obama 48%. The RealClearPolitics polling average still has President Obama up 1.9%.
