IT'S COMING

With two days of campaigning left ot go, the president is hanging on to his lead in swing states, especially Ohio, while Mitt is going on the offensive. What will Wednesday look like? If Obama defies the polls and loses, liberals will move on quickly. But if Romney falls short, The Daily Beast's Michael Tomasky warns, the right's outrage machine to kick into high gear. Plus, Howard Kurtz on the candidates' swing-state blitz.

LESSON LEARNED

Residents of New York and New Jersey devastated by Hurricane Sandy struggled to stay warm as power returned to much of Manhattan on Saturday. As the mass-transit system gets rolling again, Josh Dzieza reports on how raised entrances, floodgates, and huge balloons could save New York's subway from disaster the next time a big one hits.

ELECTION DAY

For victims of Hurricane Sandy, it's starting to get cold. Officials in areas of the Northeast hit hard by the storm are arranging ways for people with little gas and no electricity to vote on Nov. 6, as President Barack Obama and Gov. Mitt Romney appeared neck and neck in their race for the White House. Some voters in New Jersey will be allowed to cast ballots by email, while New York arranged for voting tents to be constructed in some areas. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie ordered county clerks to open to allow for early voting over the weekend.

HOMESTRETCH

Get excited! That's the message campaign volunteers will repeat nonstop in Ohio during the next few days, as Barack Obama and Mitt Romney eek out every last vote in the critical Buckeye State. While most polls show the president winning Ohio, the Republican campaign thinks it may be able to do battle with the notoriously effective Obama ground game. The president's campaign has 137 field offices spread across the state, while Romney's campaign has only 40.

HORROR

The nanny suspected of stabbing two young children to death in a Manhattan apartment last month was arrested and charged with two counts each of first- and second-degree murder Saturday. The New York deputy police commissioner said Yoselyn Ortega was arrested after officers conducted a bedside interview at Weill Cornell Medical Center, where the 50-year-old remains hospitalized and under police guard. Ortega recently awoke from a medically induced coma.

Romney Spins Obama 'Revenge' Remark

At a campaign rally yesterday, Barack Obama told his supporters to "vote! Voting is the best revenge." But later in the day, Mitt Romney tried to turn the president's message around, and then proclaimed that he wants people to vote for more noble reasons.
