Putting the dirty in Dirty Jerz -- A powerful Democratic senator up for re-election may be in some trouble, reports TheDC's Matthew Boyle: "Two women from the Dominican Republic told The Daily Caller that Democratic New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez paid them for sex earlier this year. In interviews, the two women said they met Menendez around Easter at Casa de Campo, an expensive 7,000 acre resort in the Dominican Republic. They claimed Menendez agreed to pay them $500 for sex acts, but in the end they each received only $100." Will these allegations affect his bid for re-election? Currently, Menendez has a nearly 20 percentage point lead over his Republican challenger Joe Kyrillos, according to the RealClearPolitics polling average. That may be too big a lead for even this alleged scandal to overcome --- especially with less than a week to go before the election. But as the sages say, "who really knows?" But perhaps the best hope for Kyrillos is that Menendez straight out resigns, but that strikes TheDC Morning as unlikely before Tuesday's election. | 2.) Say it ain't so, Joe! -- Joe Biden threatened to do the unthinkable Wednesday: run for president. TheDC's Alexis Levinson reports: "Vice President Joe Biden referenced possible plans for 2016 at a campaign stop Wednesday in Florida. ... 'Look, I’m not trying to talk you into voting for me, I just wanted to say hi to you,' Biden said. 'And after it’s all over when your insurance rates go down, then you’ll vote for me in 2016. I’ll talk to you later.' Pooler said Biden made the remarks in a 'joking manner." Joking or not, this country is suffering, Joe. Don't go around scaring people like that. | 3.) Another Obama pastor goes rogue -- Another pastor tied to President Obama has expressed some interesting views, reports TheDC's Neil Munro: "All white people are going to hell, longtime African-American civil rights advocate Rev. Joseph Lowery told an audience at a get-out-the-vote event held Oct. 27 in Georgia. Lowery, who gave the benediction at the January 2009 inauguration of President Barack Obama, told the audience of up to 300 African-Americans 'that when he was a young militant, he used to say all white folks were going to hell. Then he mellowed and just said most of them were. Now, he said, he is back to where he was,' according to an Oct. 31 report in the Monroe County Reporter newspaper." Isn't that special? That Barack Obama sure does know how to pick his spiritual leaders. | 4.) Labash on Sandy -- The Daily Caller's greatest advice columnist, Matt Labash, waxes philosophically about Hurricane Sandy: "The threat of annihilation is something that commands our full attention, that forces us to clock our relation to it. Perhaps this is because it reminds us that we dodged a bullet ourselves, and as Churchill said, 'There is nothing more exhilarating than to be shot at without result.' Was the sense of relief I felt, after spending the better part of a night trenching my yard in a driving rain in order to divert water from my basement during Sandy, diminished or enhanced because places like Union Beach, New Jersey were nearly totaled by the same storm? The ugly answer is probably both. Enhanced, because the same fate didn’t befall me or mine --- a fact that despite my preparations, I had literally no control over. Diminished, because watching my drenched, newly homeless, terrified-out-of-their-minds fellow human beings suffering reminds us all that the bubble of security we like to hope we inhabit could be punctured at any moment. And when that moment comes, you often lose more than your material possessions --- you lose your entire frame of reference. To think it can’t happen to you is worse than arrogance. It’s foolishness." | 5.) "The Lizard King" quote of the day -- From "The Lizard King: The Shocking Inside Account of Obama’s True Intergalactic Ambitions By An Anonymous White House Staffer," edited and introduced by Daily Caller writers Jamie Weinstein and Will Rahn: “'But I wasn’t born in Kenya the country. I was born in Kenya, Wyoming. It’s a long story dealing with my mother and Malcolm X.' The room was silent. 'Yes, I am Malcolm X’s son,' the president said. 'You heard me right. My mother had a brief love affair with him in the prairies of Wyoming. She made me promise to keep it a secret and it sounded cooler anyway to say I was born to a Kenyan tribesman.' 'But you tell everyone you were born in Hawaii,' Rahm spat out. 'If it gets out that you were born in actual Kenya or Kenya fucking Wyoming, wherever the hell that is, who the fuck will trust you anymore? Not to mention the Malcolm X shit. I mean, if any of this gets out, your presidency is fucked—along with all of our careers. This is the craziest shit I’ve ever heard. Why did you go around telling people you were born in fucking Honolulu?' 'Because I was,' the president responded. 'That’s where I found Jesus. I was born again in Honolulu.'" It is unquestionably the funniest book of the year --- and your TheDC Morning facilitator isn't just saying that because he co-wrote it. BUY ... IT ... NOW. | 6.) Poll of the Day: Ohio tight -- RealClearPolitics polling average of Ohio likely voters: President Obama 48.9%, Mitt Romney 46.6%. | AUDIO: Rush Limbaugh says Chris Christie "has decided to play the role of Greek column" for Obama | | |
