Contextualizing the uncontextualizable -- Let's pass more laws we won't enforce --  Oh Wayne, you're so insane -- How about guns for everyone? -- Tweet of Yesterday -- Today in North Korean News
1.) Contextualizing the uncontextualizable  -- Egyptian President Mohammad Morsi has a riveting explanation for his virulently anti-Semitic attacks on Jews. TheDC's Neil Munro reports:

"Egypt’s moderate Islamist president is complaining to U.S. Senators that his venomously anti-Semitic statements are being taken out of context by Western media. His statements, such as 'dear brothers, we must not forget to nurse our children and grandchildren on hatred towards those Zionists and Jews, and all those who support them,' reflect the long-standing ideology of Morsi’s political movement, the Muslim Brotherhood. ... Morsi offered his 'out-of-context' excuse during a Jan. 16 in a Cairo meeting with several U.S. Senators, including Sens. John McCain and Lindsey Graham. 'The president stressed they were taken from comments on the Israeli aggression against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, and stressed the need to put the remarks in the right context,' said an Egyptian government statement released after the meeting. The Egyptian president 'stressed his commitment to the principles he has always insisted on, including full respect for religions, freedom of faith and religious practices, especially the heavenly religions,' of Islam, Christianity and Judaism."

Very interesting explanation. In Washington, the technical term we give for such defenses is "horseshit."
2.) Let's pass more laws we won't enforce -- The Obama administration wants Congress to pass new gun laws, but TheDC's Caroline May reports they have given up on enforcing some old ones:

"During the National Rifle Association’s meeting with Vice President Joe Biden and the White House gun violence task force, the vice president said that the administration did not have the time to prosecute existing gun laws. Jim Baker, the NRA representative present at the meeting, recalled the vice president’s words to The Daily Caller: 'And to your point, Mr. Baker, regarding the lack of prosecutions on lying on Form 4473s, we simply don’t have the time or manpower to prosecute everybody who lies on a form, that checks a wrong box, that answers a question inaccurately.'”
3.) Oh Wayne, you're so insane -- Why is Wayne insane? Who knows? It rhymes. But if you thought Oprah had a big get securing the Lance Armstrong interview, wait until you see what Wayne Brady told TheDC's Nicholas Ballasy about Barack Obama:

"Hollywood actor Wayne Brady told The Daily Caller that he does not have 'unrealistic expectations' for Barack President Obama, whose performance in office is 'not going to save us.' 'I think that he did as well as anybody could be expected to do. I think we get so caught up in the thing of, Well, he’s a new president and it’s historic because he’s our first black president. Save us Obama, you can do it. Well, guess what? He’s not going to do everything,' Brady told TheDC at the Warner Theatre before the taping of the BET Honors, which air on February 11."

As a great someone once said: Blessed are those who expect little for they shall not be disappointed.
4.) How about guns for everyone? -- As many in the political establishment are pushing for the implementation of more gun control in the wake of recent gun tragedies, TheDC's Guns and Gears editor recommends the opposite. He writes:

"Let me be the first to suggest a common sense gun regulation that will include and accommodate all Americans. Every able bodied individual in America should be required to own a gun... I think we all know by now that crime in the United States and gun control laws have a direct correlation. Chicago, Detroit and Washington, D.C. are all gun control cities where you are more likely to get killed than in either of our theaters of war. Kennesaw, Georgia requires gun ownership. In 2007, the city was selected by Family Circle magazine as one of the nation’s '10 best towns for families.'"

Hmm. Force people to have a gun? TheDC Morning's libertarian streak suggests this may not be such a great idea. But if nothing else, it is iconoclastic.
5.) Tweet of Yesterday -- Jim Treacher: Perez Hilton? MT @piersmorgan On my way to be interviewed by one of my journalistic heroes
