But there's a huge problem with this attempt to shift the conversation to the supposedly ignored epidemic of "black-on-black" crime, writes The Daily Beast's Jamelle Bouie. Holder: Trayvon's Death Was Unnecessary In his first public statement since George Zimmerman was found not guilty of murder, Attorney General Eric Holder called Trayvon Martin's death tragic and unnecessary. Holder also said in his prepared remarks on Monday that Martin's killing opened up an opportunity to talk about complicated issues and for the people of America to try to understand one another better. The Justice Department announced on Sunday that it is reviewing whether to charge Zimmerman with criminal civil-rights violations. Read it at Talking Points Memo CASHING IN 3. Zimmerman Juror Lands Book Agent That didn't take very long. Just two days after a Florida jury acquitted George Zimmerman of murder, one of the jurors has signed with Sharlene Martin, a book agent with Martin Literary Management. Juror B37, who plans to stay anonymous at least for now, will write about her experience serving on a high-profile murder case and why the panel had to find Zimmerman not guilty. Jenny McCarthy to Join 'The View' ABC's The View will get a controversial new addition. Barbara Walters, who will herself be leaving the show next year, announced that the model, actress, and vocal anti-vaccine campaigner Jenny McCarthy will be replacing Elizabeth Hasselbeck, who is moving to Fox, in September. Rumors that McCarthy might replace Hasselbeck elicited a storm of criticism against ABC for giving her a forum to promote her belief that vaccines cause autism.
