YUM

So long, cronut! The next big thing in food is the ramen burger—a meat patty sandwiched between two fried ramen noodle buns. In the wake of its debut in Brooklyn last weekend, inventor Keizo Shimamoto tells The Daily Beast's Marlow Stern the story of his succulent creation.

FIERY
A small plane crashed into two homes in East Haven, Connecticut, on Friday, setting the houses on fire and possible trapping victims inside. Two children—who were presumably inside of the homes at the time of the crash—and the plane's pilot are missing, according to local officials. The Daily Beast is collecting tweets, photos, and breaking-news developments from the scene.
DRESS-UP

We know what the Browns will be gossiping about at the next family dinner. Bruce W. Browne, former senator Scott Brown's brother, was arrested in Connecticut Thursday after being accused of dressing up as a police officer. Browne, who added the "e" to the end of his name "some years ago," according to Police Department Chief Edward Stephens, was reportedly dressed in military-style clothing and wearing a gun belt with a loaded 9mm gun. "Obviously, he's going to have to answer to the charges. The good news is that no one, it appears, no one was hurt," Brown commented. Looks like he'll need to find another form of entertainment.

BIZARRE

The Miami-Dade police really had this one handed to them on a silver platter. Thirty-one-year-old Derek Medina provided the evidence and confession to his wife's murder by posting a photo of Jennifer Alonso's dead body on Facebook along with the message, "I'm going to prison or death sentence for killing my wife love you guys miss you guys take care Facebook people you will see me in the news." He went on to write an additional post: "My wife was punching me and I am not going to stand anymore abuse so I hope u understand me." When police arrived at Medina's home, they found Alonso's 10-year-old daughter from a previous relationship unharmed, and determined Medina's wife had died of gunshot wounds. While police have called the incident a homicide and took Medina into custody, they haven't charged him and are still investigating.

WHEN ANIMALS ATTACK

A 2-year-old girl and her mother were on one of the Dublin Zoo's regular supervised animal visits Thursday when the toddler was attacked by a Brazilian tapir and left unconscious. While trying to interfere in the attack, the child's mother was also injured by the agitated animal. The girl underwent surgery for "deep" stomach and arm injuries likely caused by the tapir's strong jaw and is now under supervision at a children's hospital. Her mother was taken to a different hospital in North Dublin. Meanwhile, zoo officials have said staff were "deeply upset" over this "unfortunate accident," making sure to "underline that this was very much an isolated incident," and confirm that "management at the zoo immediately launched an investigation into this regrettable occurrence."
