A canceled summit and the rogue NSA contractor's asylum had some expecting fireworks at the bilateral talks with Kerry and Hagel. Somehow, it was business as usual, says Josh Rogin.

They broke down barriers and made it into the ultimate men's inner circle. Eleanor Clift on the female sportswriters in ESPN's new documentary about the landmark era in feminist history, 'Let Them Wear Towels'.

'NOT APPROPRIATE'

In a Friday afternoon press conference that largely dealt with NSA surveillance, Vladimir Putin, and Edward Snowden, President Obama said he believes that boycotting the 2014 Sochi Olympics over Russia's recent antigay legislation would not be "appropriate" because American athletes have been training and preparing for the games. Wouldn't it be great, Obama added, if gay and lesbian athletes took home some gold? Elsewhere, Obama said that recent leaks by Snowden have made his job harder, but stressed a need for transparency and asked Americans to have confidence in these programs. The president also noted that he does not view Snowden as a patriot, and that he plans to work with Congress to reform the section of the Patriot Act that deals with phone data. "America is not interested in spying on ordinary people," he said. Addressing a recent pullout from a one-on-one meeting with Putin, he said the two still have a good relationship.

'RIVER OF NO RETURN'

California authorities have been searching for 16-year-old Hannah Anderson since her mother and what's thought to be her 8-year-old brother were found dead in a burned-down house on Monday. Now they are focusing their search on the central Idaho wilderness, where a horseback rider says he exchanged pleasantries with a teenage girl and James DiMaggio, the man suspected of killing her family and kidnapping her. The pair were on foot, hiking with camping gear, which was "odd, but nothing as alarming," according to the rider. There is an Amber Alert out for Anderson and they are believed to be traveling in the River of No Return Wilderness area, 15 miles from Cascade.

RING OF FIRE

After a months-long buildup, a volcano erupted on Indonesia's Palue Island on Saturday, killing 6. There seemed to be plenty of time to prepare—Mount Rokatenda had been rumbling since October. 3,000 people were evacuated from the area before the volcano blew, sending ash and smoke over 6,500 feet into the air. The six dead were sleeping in a beach village and were killed by hot lava gushing out of the mountain.

Jack Donaghy vs. Alec Baldwin

With a potential spot on MSNBC, things are about to get even more political for Mr. Baldwin. We couldn't help but think that his '30 Rock' über-Republican counterpart, Jack Donaghy, would not approve.
