Syria Destroys Chemical Equipment In a major step towards meeting the mid-2014 deadline to demolish its chemical weapons stockpile, Syria has allegedly destroyed equipment for producing, mixing, and filling chemical weapons, according to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW). The chemical weapons stockpile is believed to include over 1,000 tons of sarin gas—the agent likely used in the August 21 chemical attack that left 355 people dead. Russian President Vladimir Putin has been named the world's most powerful person, knocking President Obama down to number two on the annual list. Forbes cited Putin's expanding control over Russia as well as his significant influence over international relations. Also of note, Pope Francis continues to make waves, as his widespread popularity lands him at the number four spot. Obamacare Horror Story Debunked Talk about calling journalists out. Deborah Cavallaro was all over the news on Wednesday as an example of someone who lost her existing health insurance thanks to Obamacare. Except one problem—the plan she qualifies for is better. Under her current plan, she is limited to two doctor visits a year, pays $293 a month with a yearly deductible of $5,000. Cavallaro says she was told by her insurance broker she would be paying $478 a month—but she didn't check the website herself. There, she would have found a better plan, with only a $2,000 deductible and all doctor visits covered by a copay—for only $40 more a month.
