Obama: ACA Is 'Not Just a Website' President Obama took to the Rose Garden on Monday to defend Obamacare, pledging to fix the glitchy rollout of Healthcare.gov while at the same time promising not to "sugarcoat" its many problems. "No one is madder than me that it's not working. And that means it's going to get fixed," Obama said. He also used the appearance to tout the law in general, insisting there is a "national demand" for the coverage provided in the reform. Woman (Kind of) Faints During Obama's Speech The best laid plans…A woman appeared to be light-headed and had to be escorted out during President Obama's Rose Garden speech on Monday. The woman has been identified as Karmel Allison; she is diabetic, according the White House, and she was invited to the press conference after successfully enrolling in Obamacare. As Obama spoke, Allison's eyes rolled back and she became unsteady on her feet, causing the president to turn around and ask her if she was OK. "This is what happens when I talk too long," Obama said (likely a flashback to his teaching days) as Allison was led off stage—and into history, as she is probably already a meme. Two Dead in Nevada School Shooting A shooting at a middle school in Sparks, Nevada on Monday has left two people dead, including the gunman, and another two people hospitalized. Both of those injured are in critical condition. The shooter died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Sparks City Manager Shawn Carey said. Students have been evacuated to a nearby elementary school. Read it at Reno Gazette-Journal FAREWELL 5. Tigers and Jim Leyland Part Ways The end of an era. Jim Leyland, who managed the Detroit Tigers for eight seasons, will not be coming back to the team in 2014. Leyland led the Tigers to two World Series, and narrowly missed returning this postseason. After the team recorded the most losses in American League history in 2003 and failed to find success, Leyland was brought on in the fall of 2005 to right the ship. In his eight years with the Tigers, Leyland went 700-597. In his 22-year career, he won a championship with the Florida Marlins in 1997 and compiled 1,769 wins total.
