Kerry: al Qaeda 'Can Run But They Can't Hide' It's never too late. Al Qaeda "can run but they can't hide," U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said Sunday, one day after the arrest of the militant suspected of being behind the 1998 bombing of the U.S. embassies in Africa. U.S. forces in Libya on Saturdayarrested Nazih al-Ragye, also known as Abu Anas el-Liby, who has been under indictment for 15 years for his alleged role in the bombings of the embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. "We hope this makes clear that the United States of America will never stop in its effort to hold those accountable who conduct acts of terror," Kerry said. U.S. officials also confirmed they participated in a raid in an "al Shabab stronghold" in Somalia, in a failed attempt to capture the militants behind the Kenyan mall attack last month. Read it at Reuters back to the grind 3. Hagel Recalls Pentagon Workers Are we inching back to normalcy? On Saturday, Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel announced that most of the Department of Defense's 400,000 civilian employees have been ordered back to work according to Pentagon interpretations of the Pay Our Military Act. The act, which was passed on Tuesday, ensures that members of the military will continue to be paid on time as they work throughout the shutdown. It also allows room for Pentagon-affiliated civilians who provide defense support. Perhaps more excitingly, it also means that nearly half of the 800,000 government employees furloughed will be back at work on Monday. Read it at CNN AWKWARD 4. GOP Candidate Won't Pose with Cruz A long time ago, they used to be friends. Republican Ted Cuccinelli, running for governor of Virginia, refused to be photographed with Ted Cruz at a gala they headlined together on Saturday night. Making things even more awkward: in a 54-minute speech, Cruz lauded his "friend" Cuccinelli, who is locked in a deadheat against Terry McAuliffe. Backstage, Cuccinelli apparently urged Cruz to work with Democrats to end the federal shutdown, but Cuccinelli then did not even acknowledge Cruz in his speech. Yikes. It was clearly not a good weekend for Cruz's ego: President Obama also criticized him, calling him "controversial" on Saturday and saying "I didn't go around trying to court the media."
