What would make a sitting congressman like Michael Grimm of Staten Island threaten to break a reporter in half after the State of the Union? David Freedlander writes that this is standard behavior for Grimm, an ex-Marine and ex-FBI agent, who brandished a gun in a nightclub, almost fought a voter in a supermarket, and more.

SNOWED IN

The National Guard has been to rescue metro Atlanta from a storm that's stranded people in their homes, trapped others in their cars overnight, and forced students to sleep at school. At one point, 99 school buses were stuck in traffic. Former Atlanta Braves star Chipper Jones saved the day for his former teammate Freddie Freeman, by rescuing him on a four-wheeler. Next door in Alabama, five people died and 23 were injured as a result of the storm.

RESOURCE-FUL

It's been a banner year already for al Qaeda in the Middle East. First al Qaeda forces seized Fallujah, and now ISIS and the Nusra Front, which are offshoots of the terrorist group, have seized control of most of Syria's oil and gas resources. In a strange twist that has made the Syrian conflict even more convoluted, the Islamist and extremist groups are even selling the fuel to the Assad government. Other rebel groups are now accusing them of cooperating with the government, for allegedly receiving electricity and relief from airstrikes in return for the oil.

HOLY BURGLARY

Someone stole a bloodied piece of late Pope John Paul II's vestments from church this week, the worst such theft since the purported flesh of Jesus was lifted from a shrine in 1983. Barbie Latza Nadeau reports on the surprisingly common—and difficult—problem of relic theft in Italy.

FALSE START

Talk about getting your jock straps in a bunch. Warren Sapp thinks Michael Strahan is overrated and isn't afraid to say so. In an interview on Tuesday, Sapp addressed Strahan's potential selection on Saturday for the NFL Hall of Fame saying, "When you stack it up, he only has four straight Pro Bowls and a mythical sack record that y'all still walk around like it's something to be praised … when you really measure him up, he comes up short." Strahan fired back, sarcastically saying, "I'm all hype. I lasted 15 years, all hype. I had 141.5 career sacks, all hype." Sapp also attacked Strahan's post-NFL career, arguing that his "good guy" image was fake and that his TV popularity on shows like Live with Michael and Kelly helped him. Boomer Esiason jumped in, calling Sapp an "embarrassment to anybody who's ever played the game of football because he feels like he's on an island somewhere by himself."
