- There's a huge risk to Facebook's mobile advertising business that nobody is talking about. The mobile ad business is driven by app install ads. App companies are fueled by VCs. If the app companies suddenly hit turbulence, it could be trouble for Facebook. But, we don't know how much trouble because Facebook doesn't say how much of its mobile ads are app install ads.
- The Wall Street Journal asked a bunch of VCs if they think we're in a dangerous/bubble-like stage for startup investment. The question was spurred by VC Bill Gurley warning that too many startups are losing money. The two best responses to Gurley: "If 2000 was a bubble factor of 10, we are at an 8 to 9 in my opinion right now." And, from someone else: "The thing I am missing with Gurley's piece is, so what? There wasn't a clear call to action."
